Nelly Korda Appears on Jonas Brothers Podcast
LPGA No. 1 Nelly Korda appeared on the Jonas Brothers’ podcast “Hey Jonas!” offering golf insights, according to reports. Recorded while the pop-singing trio toured in Tampa, Florida, the 26-minute episode brought together the top-ranked golfer and the famous brothers—Kevin, Joe, and Nick—who count golf among their favorite hobbies.
Korda Explains the Art of Hitting Fairway Divots
Korda told the hosts that if she could, she would totally change the rule about not getting relief from a divot. Still, she acknowledged the technical nuance required for the shot. “You put it more back in your stance to grip a little bit more down on the club because in a way it’s kind of like a bunker shot,” Korda said on the podcast. “So you’re trying to hit the ball first and you’re just a lot steeper. So there is an art.” Nick Jonas offered an alternative solution on the show, joking that players could simply move the ball.
Addressing how she handles competitive pressure on major championship stages, Korda explained to Joe Jonas that she relies on a routine. “My routine,” Korda said. “Some people call it superstition, but a routine, it’s always something that you fall back on.” She described the butterflies on the first tee not as negative anxiety, but as excitement. “I have my practice swing, I lock into my target, talk to my caddie, and then I go.”
Career Longevity and the Five Guys Post-Win Routine
Currently enjoying a two-month break from LPGA competition ahead of next month’s tournament action at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican near Tampa—where she is a three-time winner—Korda discussed the mental threshold for competing. She explained that she still experiences childlike joy on the course when hitting a good shot, noting that she plans to reassess what she’s doing when that enthusiasm fades. “I’m completely burnt out when I’m like, ‘OK, I need to go practice. I don’t want to go, but I need to go,'” she said.
Korda also shared a rare misstep involving her caddie, Jason Dede, during his first year on her bag. Rather than slamming a club head into the turf, she gripped the club by the head and slammed the butt end into the ground, causing the club to ricochet and strike her in the mouth. “He was like, ‘I thought if I laughed, I would get fired right there,'” Korda recalled.
When asked by Kevin Jonas how she decompresses after securing a victory, Korda pointed straight to fast food. “The post win meal is always Five Guys burgers,” she said, specifying a build of mustard, ketchup, and mushrooms. She added that she maintains strict habits on the course, noting she has never consumed an alcoholic beverage during a round or the night before playing. “It’s like a pilot wouldn’t have a drink the night before,” Nick Jonas added.
Korda Recommends Six-Ball Drill for Youth Players
The conversation turned toward youth instruction when Kevin Jonas discussed his 12-year-old daughter Alena’s growing dedication to the sport. Alena appeared in a video segment to ask Korda what an up-and-coming player should focus on most. Korda emphasized short-game proficiency, recommending a demanding exercise called the six-ball drill. Players must complete six up-and-downs in a row across varying difficulty levels, including bunker shots where the putt must actually drop into the cup. “It’s hard,” Korda said. “On that sixth putt, you’re feeling pressure. And that’s what you feel out on the golf course.”

Korda stressed that junior programs should prioritize core fundamentals such as grip and weight distribution while keeping sessions engaging through games. Reflecting on her own development, she credited her support system, highlighting the crucial behind-the-scenes work contributed by Jason Dede and her broader professional team.
