NATO Chief Warns of China-Russia Nuclear Pact
Alliance head details potential timeline for global conflict.
A single phone call could signal the beginning of the end, according to **NATO** chief **Mark Rutte**, who chillingly predicted how a coordinated effort by China and Russia could trigger a nuclear Armageddon.
The Threat Scenario
**Rutte** suggests that **Chinese President Xi Jinping** might coordinate with **Russian President Vladimir Putin** to launch simultaneous aggressions, pushing the world to the edge of atomic disaster.
Specifically, **Rutte** envisions China initiating World War III by attempting to seize control of Taiwan, while simultaneously ensuring that the Kremlin launches a coordinated attack against **NATO** territory.
The Phone Call That Could Change Everything
In an interview, **Rutte** outlined a possible sequence of events, saying:
“Let’s not be naive about this: If **Xi Jinping** would attack Taiwan, he would first make sure that he makes a call to his very junior partner in all of this, **Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin**, residing in Moscow, and telling him, ‘Hey, I’m going to do this, and I need you to keep them busy in Europe by attacking NATO territory.’”
—Mark Rutte, NATO Chief
**Rutte** believes this is the most probable course of action. Meanwhile, global military expenditure saw its biggest jump since 2009, rising by 6.8% in 2023 (SIPRI).
Countermeasures and Prevention
**Rutte** identified two key strategies to avert such a cataclysmic scenario. Primarily, ensuring **NATO** maintains a level of strength that deters Russia from initiating any attacks. Also, fostering collaborative security initiatives with nations in the Indo-Pacific region. He noted that **President Donald Trump** is greatly encouraging this.
According to **Rutte**, the close interconnectedness and collaborative efforts on defense industry innovation between **NATO** and the Indo-Pacific area is vital.
The Challenge of Rearmament
**Rutte** acknowledged **Putin**’s rapid rearmament efforts, describing the pace as “which is unparalleled in recent history.”
He stressed the urgent need for Western nations to increase their own defense spending to meet this growing threat.
**Rutte** warned:
“We have an enormous geopolitical challenge on our hands.”
