NASA Announces All-American Class of Astronaut Candidates for 2025 Promotion
WASHINGTON – NASA today unveiled ten new astronaut candidates, all U.S. citizens, selected from a highly competitive pool to join its ranks and contribute to the agencyS enterprising goals of lunar and Martian exploration. The announcement marks a significant step in bolstering NASA’s human spaceflight capabilities as it prepares for a new era of discovery.
This selection brings the total number of astronaut candidates chosen by NASA since the original “Mercury Seven” in 1959 to 370. The incoming class represents a diverse range of backgrounds and expertise, including pilots, engineers, and scientists, poised to contribute to groundbreaking research and missions. The candidates will undergo intensive training,preparing them for potential assignments on the Artemis program,future missions to the Moon,and eventual journeys to Mars.
Among the selected is a graduate of the United States Marine Test Pilot School who served as a project officer for UH-1 and AH-1Z airplanes and coordinator of the AH-1W platform during its active duty. At the time of her selection, she was the director of flight test engineering at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
