Nagoya University G30 Scholarship: A Complete Guide for Undergraduates

Nagoya University is offering full scholarships to students enrolled in its Global 30 International Programs, covering tuition and providing a stipend, according to a recent announcement. The scholarships, available to approximately 10-15% of students, are awarded based on academic merit, financial need and extracurricular activities.

The Global 30 program, now operating under the Super Global University (SGU) initiative, attracts international students with its English-taught curriculum. The university’s scholarship program is specifically designed for students within these international programs. The scholarship amount is 500,000 yen annually, and includes a full tuition waiver. A 100% reduction in tuition fees is provided for the standard study period, with no provision for continued funding beyond that timeframe.

Applicants can download the necessary application forms directly from the Nagoya University website. The application process requires a handwritten and printed form, along with a verified proof of family income. These documents must be scanned and uploaded to the university’s online application system alongside other required materials.

In addition to the university’s own scholarships, students can also apply for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship through their local Japanese embassy or consulate. The MEXT scholarship application period typically runs from February to April. Successful applicants must first pass a written examination and/or interview, and then receive a recommendation from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Prospective students seeking a provisional acceptance letter from Nagoya University should contact their desired school or graduate school directly.

Nagoya University currently accepts a maximum of 15 scholarship recipients from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Oceania, North America, Central and South America, and Europe. The selection process involves both document review and interviews. Applicants will be notified of their scholarship status before arriving in Japan.
