MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women’s tennis team is set to kick off its 2023-24 season with both the Gopher Invitational and participation in the ITA All-American Championships.Three Golden Gophers – Yinong Ma, Anlin Xie, and Nora Knezevic – have qualified for the pre-qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships.
The Gopher Invitational will serve as the team’s first competitive action, while the ITA All-American Championships represent a significant early-season test against top competition. Was Schmitz and Mia Liepert have earned spots in the singles draw of the ITA event, and Liepert will team with Anali Kocevar in the doubles draw. This marks the first time since 2015 that Minnesota has sent athletes to the ITA All-American Championships; that year, Caroline Ryba, Julia Courter, and Paula Rincon-Otero represented the program.
The ITA All-american Championships pre-qualifying rounds begin September 20-21 at 8 a.m. CT, with qualifying rounds following on September 22-23. The main draw is scheduled for September 24-28.
