One person died Saturday night after a shooting near the newly opened Landmark Credit Union Live in Milwaukee, police said. The shooting occurred around 11:34 p.m. In the 1000 block of West Vel R. Phillips Avenue, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
The 47-year-old victim, whose identity has not been released, sustained multiple gunshot injuries and died at the scene, police said. Investigators are working to identify a suspect.
The shooting took place after a performance by rapper BossMan Dlow at Landmark Credit Union Live, which hosted its first touring act the night before. A witness, who shared video of the incident, described a dispute that began with a minor parking incident. According to the witness, the victim accidentally struck another vehicle while backing out of a parking space. The witness stated there was no damage to the other car, but the driver of that vehicle allegedly broke the victim’s car window. The witness claims the victim then exited her vehicle, displaying a firearm and demanding an explanation, before being shot and killed.
The incident occurred during a weekend when visitors from out of state were in Milwaukee. Deriyln Hiles, visiting from Ohio with friends to see a Milwaukee Bucks game, expressed shock. “We just went to the game. We wish to have a good time and then something like that happens. Even if you are safe you still have that in the back of your mind,” Hiles told TMJ4 News.
Another visitor, Zavier Sheppeard, also from Ohio, said his group exercises caution in crowded settings. “That’s why we don’t drink when we’re down here because we like to be level headed. There’s too many people around us you never know. People can be rowdy, especially after a game or concert,” Sheppeard said.
Jay Burke, a third visitor from Ohio, said the shooting unfairly tarnishes the reputation of the new venue. “Music is typically a place of love and comfort and when people ruin things like that it gets a bad vibe around it and a bad rep. I don’t think this place deserves that,” Burke said.
Milwaukee police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at (414) 935-7360 or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or through the P3 Tips App.
The shooting follows a quadruple shooting in downtown Milwaukee in June 2025 and a 2022 incident where three people were injured outside Fiserv Forum after a Bucks playoff game. Milwaukee has recorded 14 homicides and 47 non-fatal shootings so far this year, according to police statistics, which is down from the same period in 2024 and 2025.
Landmark Credit Union Live is scheduled to host Mt. Joy on October 2, 2026, according to its website.
