Microsoft Unveils 7th Gen Surface Laptops with Integrated 5G Connectivity
New Copilot+ PCs Feature Intel Core Ultra Processors, Catering to Business Demands
Microsoft has officially launched the 7th generation of its Surface Laptop line, introducing models with integrated 5G modems to meet growing business user demands for seamless connectivity.
Enhanced Performance and Connectivity
The new Surface Laptops will be available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch screen sizes, powered by Intel’s Core Ultra processors, specifically the Series 2 lineup. Processor options include the Intel Core Ultra 5 (236V and 238V) and Core Ultra 7 (266V and 268V). These chips boast Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance of 40TOPS for the Core Ultra 5 variants and 48TOPS for the Core Ultra 7, satisfying the minimum system requirements for AI PCs.
Business-Focused Specifications
Memory options for all configurations include 16GB or 32GB, with storage choices ranging from 256GB to 1TB. The 13.8-inch models feature a 2304×1536 screen resolution, while the 15-inch model offers 2496×1664 resolution. Both sizes maintain a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 1300:1 contrast ratio.
Regarding dimensions, the 13.8-inch Wi-Fi model measures 301mm x 220mm x 17.5mm and weighs 1.35kg. The 13.8-inch Wi-Fi + 5G version is slightly thicker at 17.8mm and weighs 1.39kg. The larger 15-inch model has dimensions of 329mm x 239mm x 18.26mm and a weight of 1.65kg. Battery life is rated up to 20 hours for local video playback on the 13.8-inch models and up to 22 hours on the 15-inch model. Active web usage is estimated at 12 hours for the 13.8-inch and 1 hour for the 15-inch.
Pricing begins at 262,680 yen for the 13.8-inch model and 295,680 yen for the 15-inch model. The earliest delivery for the Wi-Fi models is July 24th, 2025, with 5G-equipped versions expected to ship starting September 3rd, 2025.
In addition to the laptops, Microsoft also announced business-focused Surface Pro models equipped with Snapdragon X Plus processors, scheduled for shipment in September 2025, with prices starting at 146,080 yen.
