Mexico City – ‌ A mexico City police officer has been charged with‍ homicide following the fatal shooting of a motorcyclist on August 18th in the ‍Venustiano‍ carranza borough. The incident, captured​ on video and ‌widely circulated on social media, has sparked outrage and protests demanding the ‌officers’ release, with supporters claiming self-defense.

What‌ Happened in the Shooting?

Officers Julio César “N” and Luis Arturo “N”, assigned‍ to the Balbuena sector,⁤ attempted ⁣to stop ​Christopher “N” and his brother, ⁢who were riding a motorcycle. According to ​police reports, the young‌ men resisted the search, leading to a physical altercation with the⁢ officers.

New Video⁤ Details Lead-Up to Incident

Journalist Carlos Jiménez, known as “C4” on social media, shared a video on Tuesday showing⁤ the motorcycle carrying ⁢the Huerta brothers and their father​ moments before ‍the encounter with police.

“On⁤ those motorcycles were the Huerta brothers and their dad.⁣ Two agents of ⁢the SSC-CDMX⁢ came to check them,​ But they sought to flee, they beat a policeman and ⁢bump into blows. cristopher kicked an agent lying, he shot … and killed him,” ⁤C4 posted on⁤ social media.

Hearing Updates: Charges Filed,Protests ⁢Held

During a‌ Tuesday hearing,the Public Ministry⁤ presented evidence to ⁣charge Julio César “N” with ‍homicide and Luis​ Arturo “N” with abuse of authority.

Outside the ⁤East Prison,where the hearing took place,members​ of the ⁢”national collective no more innocent prisoners” ‍demonstrated,calling for the officers’ release. They maintain ‌that the officers acted in self-defense during ‌the altercation.
