ANTWERPAfter London, Vienna, Krakow and Amsterdam, the Antwerp theater company FC Bergman is now also bringing the legendary performance ‘300 el x 50 el x 30 el’ to New York. In the metropolis there is already talk of “brilliant and poetic Belgian theater of epic proportions”.

Matteo Simoni, Marie Vinck, Bart Hollanders and Stef Aerts, among others, will make their American debut in late September with their company FC Bergman, based at the Bourla Theater in Antwerp. With the show ‘300 el x 50 el x 30 el’, the company opens the Next Wave theater festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. The production has previously been a guest in Greece, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland, the UK and the Netherlands. The American festival has already invited FC Bergman in 2020, but that edition could not take place for obvious reasons.

Noah’s Ark
‘300 cubits x 50 cubits x 30 cubits’ is a contemporary variation of the biblical story of Noah’s Ark. The title of the piece therefore refers to the presumed dimensions of Noah’s ship. “A village enchanted by the fear of an oncoming deluge”, plays at FC Bergman. “What happens in homes can be seen on a big screen. With a host of prominent guest actors such as Herwig Ilegems and Evelien Bosmans, eighty extras, half a forest and an entire village on stage, this piece is an experience, a journey.

Yankees who can watch the show from September 28 to October 1 need not worry about language barriers, as there is no voice in the show. At the Brooklyn Academy of Music they are already very enthusiastic. “The Belgian collective brings the full power of its chaotic and poetic show to our festival with a theatrical and cinematographic work of epic proportions”.
