Cape League Honors Heroes for Fourth Year

Massachusetts Lottery continues support for military and first responders.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Cape Cod Baseball League will honor local military members and first responders during Friday night games through the Massachusetts state Lottery ‘Hero of the Game‘ campaign, celebrating community service and dedication.
‘Hero of the Game’ Initiative
The ‘Hero of the game’ initiative, backed by the Massachusetts State Lottery, will recognize local heroes at each home game. These individuals will be brought onto the field during the middle of the fourth inning, receiving a signed baseball and recognition for thier service.
Fans can nominate their heroes by completing a form located at the press box of each of the league’s 10 teams, ensuring community involvement in the selection process.

‘Red Shirt Fridays’
Adding to the tribute, each Cape League home team will participate in ‘Red Shirt Fridays’ for the 2025 season. Teams will wear red jersey tops and special baseball caps to honor those who serve the United States.
About the Cape Cod Baseball League
The Cape Cod Baseball League, established in 1923 with roots dating back to 1885, stands as the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the U.S. The non-profit association recruits players from all NCAA college divisions to compete in its 10-team league across Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
As of 2024, 415 Cape League alumni were on MLB team rosters, with over 1,600 alumni having played in the major leagues throughout its history. The league continues to be a vital stepping stone for aspiring professional baseball players. According to MLB.com, the league has produced more than 1,400 major leaguers MLB.com.
