Marvel’s Wolverine Release Date: September 15, 2026 Confirmed

Insomniac Games has set a September 15, 2026, release date for its highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine, the company announced Tuesday via a brief social media post. The announcement comes after a period of anticipation following the game’s absence from Sony’s recent State of Play showcase.

The release date was revealed in a six-second video shared across Insomniac’s social media channels. The video features the game’s key art and simply states, “Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026.”

The announcement follows a gameplay trailer released last year, which showcased the game’s violent action and confirmed Liam McIntyre, known for his role as JD Fenix in the Gears franchise, as the voice of Wolverine. The game is described as a “global thriller” that will take Wolverine to locations including Madripoor, Canada, and Tokyo, according to a PlayStation blog post.

The lack of a Wolverine appearance at the State of Play earlier this month had fueled speculation among fans, though Insomniac had previously indicated the game would not be featured. The timing of today’s announcement suggests a larger reveal, potentially including a more extensive trailer or dedicated showcase, may be planned for later this spring.

Marvel’s Wolverine was initially teased at The Game Awards in 2021 and then remained largely out of the public eye until the release of the gameplay trailer. A leak associated with a 2023 hack of Insomniac Games briefly provided additional details about the project.

The game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Sony is also publishing Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a fighting game scheduled for release on August 6th.
