Today Square Enix published the first digital war table stream for MARVEL’S AVENGERS, which gives the most detailed insight into MARVEL’S AVENGERS so far.

The stream offered players the world premieres of new trailers, including the first demonstration of new Thor gameplay in the campaign hero mission “Once an Avenger”. The playthrough follows the god of thunder as he fights opponents with powerful lightning bolts, unleashes a volley of Mjölnir attacks and performs many other signature hero moves, alone and with Avengers AI teammates.

In addition, more details have been revealed about the game’s main villain, MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), which Marvel fans will recognize as the artificially mutated, super-intelligent leader of AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics).

Last but not least, Crystal Dynamics revealed brand new information about the game’s Warzone missions, their structure and how the Avengers together can become even more powerful. All Warzone missions are always team-based and can be played alone with AI hero companions or in co-op groups with up to four players. The stream also showed more of the game world, from AIM research facilities to a decommissioned helicarrier – all of these locations can be explored by players and grant new rewards, equipment and experience points.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS offers players a versatile experience with a combination of hero and warzone missions. Hero missions are designed for single players and are part of the introductory campaign. They present each hero’s unique abilities as you build your growing team. Warzone missions can be played solo or in a group of up to four players, with each hero in the team available. Each mission is dynamically scaled depending on the team size and player level.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS players will also be able to customize the most powerful heroes on earth in several ways. While each superhero is guided by his unique powers, there are still numerous options depending on the equipment and activated skills, so that the same hero will never play the same way with two different players. Each hero has dynamic combos, hero moves, an intrinsic ability and typical move sets that can be unlocked and customized – many of which were inspired by classic moves from 80 years of history in all media, others were created directly for the game.

Players can also equip these iconic superheroes with classic, fan-favorite and brand new outfits inspired by over 80 years of Marvel history, including Iron Man’s armor from the 2014 story “Original Sin” or Donald Blake, a tribute to Thor’s alias, which first appeared in Journey Into Mystery Issue 83 in 1962.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS is an ambitious game that starts with a global, high-risk competition that is about bringing the Avengers together. But this is just the beginning. So that all players experience a continuous hero experience, the story of MARVEL’S AVENGERS is constantly being expanded. Every superhero, story expansion and region that appears after the launch is always free for all players who own the main game – and the threats to the Avengers are getting bigger and more dangerous.

Square Enix also announced earlier this week that MARVEL’S AVENGERS will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when the consoles arrive in late 2020. Players who own a version of the game for current generation consoles can upgrade to the next generation at no additional cost, regardless of whether they switch from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X. When transferring to the next generation, player profiles and progress can be taken away, allowing all players to continue where they left off. Cross-gen play is also supported, which means PS5 players can play with their friends on PS4, and Xbox Series X players can connect with their friends on Xbox One.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS will be released on September 4, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. The game was rated by the USK from the age of 12.
