Mark Chapman And Rachin Ravindra Ruled Out Of India ODI Series

Mark Chapman And Rachin Ravindra Ruled Out Of India ODI Series

November 2, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

New Zealand will play their upcoming five-match ODI series against India without Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra, as both players remain sidelined with injuries sustained in September. The opening match of the series is scheduled to be played at Eden Park in Auckland, cricinfo.com reported.

Injuries Keep Chapman and Ravindra Sidelined

Mark Chapman suffered a left hamstring tear during his stint at the European T20 Premier League in September. Rachin Ravindra sustained a right shoulder injury during a promotional shoot in September.

Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this side so it’s a shame they have to miss this series, New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said.

“I caught up with Mark last week and although he’s disappointed he’s working hard to get back on the field. With Rachin, his shoulder hasn’t quite recovered to a position where he could field comfortably in white-ball cricket, so with the Test series later this month we don’t want to take any undue risks,” Walter added.

Squad Adjustments for the Five-Match Series

To cover for the absences, New Zealand made several alterations to their squad across the five matches. Wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert, who was initially selected only for the fourth and fifth games, has been added to the squad for the entire series, according to outlookindia.com. Experienced left-handed batter Henry Nicholls was drafted into the squad for the opening three ODIs after scoring 119 for Canterbury against Wellington in the Ford Trophy. All-rounder Dean Foxcroft will join the group for the final two games after completing New Zealand A’s red-ball series against India A.

Changes also affected the fast-bowling contingent. Matt Fisher, originally named only for the last two ODIs, remains with the squad for the entire series as additional bowling cover. Meanwhile, Matt Henry rejoined the group on Monday after missing the final three T20Is against India due to a low-grade tear in his right quadricep, with his readiness to play in the opener to be assessed.
