Mariana Derderián Reveals deep Disappointment with Diana Bolocco After Interview Cancellation
Santiago, Chile – Actress Mariana derderián has spoken out about her profound disappointment with television host Diana Bolocco following teh cancellation of a highly anticipated interview. The planned appearance on Chilevisión’s “Podemos Hablar” was set to be Derderián’s first media engagement as the tragic death of her six-year-old son in a house fire in May 2024.
The interview, scheduled for March 26th, was abruptly canceled by Derderián the night before the recording.The decision stemmed from a promotional video released by the network that highlighted her son’s death, focusing solely on this painful experience. Derderián, who had agreed to discuss her life and challenges in communications, felt the promotion was sensationalist and did not align with the agreed-upon tone or content.
“The disappointment was very large because she had another image of her,” Derderián stated in a recent interview with Lun, referring to Bolocco.She expressed shock and dismay at the promotional material, which she felt exploited her grief.
Following the cancellation, Chilevisión issued a statement acknowledging that the promotional piece “failed to find the tone or sensitivity corresponding to the context of said announcement, causing Mariana’s understandable discomfort.” Though, Derderián felt the statement shifted blame and lacked genuine accountability. “The honest was to say ‘we assumed our responsibility as we did not respect what was agreed’,” she commented.
Adding to her distress, Derderián revealed that her attempts to reach out to Diana Bolocco after the incident went unanswered. “I called her and did not answer me. I wrote to her by telling her the damage that this promotion had generated at the family level, the morbidity,” Derderián shared. “I was surprised that she did not take off. The disappointment was very large as she had another image of her.”
The incident has cast a shadow over Derderián’s return to the public eye, highlighting the delicate balance between media coverage and personal tragedy.
