Man Utd to Decide Michael Carrick’s Future After International Break
“There is no word that I can explain to you that will make the situation change. We have to move forward, win games, just that,” Michael Carrick stated as Manchester United prepared for another crucial fixture.
Manchester United will allow Michael Carrick to remain in charge until the November international break, despite a dismal run that extended to nine matches without a victory across all competitions, according to pptvhd36.com. The decision gives the 45-year-old manager a final two-match window at Old Trafford to salvage his position before club executives evaluate his future.
The Pressure Mounting at Old Trafford
The latest blow came in a 2-0 defeat away at Chelsea, a result that plunged the club into its worst winless sequence since 1988. Carrick expressed dissatisfaction with the concession of the opening goal, noting that Morgan Rogers was allowed to break through the central defense in a previously even contest that decided the match. The manager declined to blame Lisandro Martínez after he conceded a penalty and was sent off, describing the second goal and the subsequent red card as a sequence that heavily impacted the match.
Upcoming Fixtures Before the FIFA Break
The club hierarchy opted to extend Carrick’s tenure through the final international break of the year because of an unforgiving schedule packed with simultaneous commitments in domestic and European competitions. pptvhd36.com outlined that the Red Devils face two vital home matches in quick succession before the two-week domestic pause. First, they host Roma in the UEFA Champions League on November 3, followed by a Premier League encounter against Aston Villa on November 8.
If results fail to improve during this stretch, the club will utilize the subsequent two-week international hiatus to install a new manager.
Old Trafford Faces Structural Crisis and Poor League Form
The broader structural crisis at Old Trafford extends far beyond the managerial dugout. Analysts noted that the club is enduring its longest winless league run since May 2025, a period defined by a 16th-place finish and a meager 42-point haul. Fabian Hürzeler plays exciting football in the same vein as Carrick’s approach, which had previously convinced club executives to turn down Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola before making a permanent appointment; given that most of United’s new signings have already proven themselves at the Premier League level and retain room for development, observers questioned why a manager with those exact qualities was not chosen to lead the team.
Whether Carrick can alter the trajectory during the matches against Roma and Aston Villa remains the immediate question for a club facing intense scrutiny across both domestic and European stages.
