Lucas Hernandez, the Paris Saint-Germain and French national team defender, has installed a large statue of a red Kong sculpture, designed by artist Richard Orlinski, at his residence. The statue depicts the ape wearing a French team jersey emblazoned with Hernandez’s number 21 and holding a World Cup trophy aloft.
Hernandez revealed footage of the statue’s installation on social media Sunday evening, showing the process of lifting the sizable artwork into place with the aid of a crane. The sculpture now occupies a prominent position in the center of his driveway, surrounded by a collection of luxury vehicles.
Hernandez was a key player for France during their successful run at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He started in every match of the tournament except for one group stage fixture against Denmark, playing as a left-back alongside Benjamin Pavard. He contributed two assists during the competition, one in the round of 16 against Argentina and another in the final against Croatia.
News of the 2022 World Cup is still circulating, as reported by LiveFoot, a sports news outlet.
