Loyola men’s golf stands sixth at LaTour Intercollegiate after 36 holes

The Loyola Wolf Pack men’s golf team carded a team total of 586 (+18) on Monday, placing sixth out of nine teams at the Nicholls LaTour Intercollegiate in Mathews, Louisiana, loyolawolfpack.com reported. Competing against a field of all NCAA Division I opponents, the squad enters Tuesday’s final round trailing tournament leader East Texas A&M by 28 strokes.

East Texas A&M holds the team lead at 558 (-10) following rounds of 273 and 285. Southeastern Louisiana sits second at 564 (-4), while host Nicholls occupies third place at 567 (-1). Loyola opened play with a 296 in the morning before improving to a 290 in the afternoon session.

Leon Mishkin paces individual leaderboard for the Wolf Pack

Sophomore Leon Mishkin leads Loyola’s individual efforts, sitting in a tie for sixth place at 1-under-par 141. Mishkin opened his day with a 72 (+1) featuring two birdies and seven straight pars. He followed with a 69 (-2) in the second round, surging to 4-under through 10 holes before a double bogey on his 16th hole settled his score.

Among other Loyola competitors, junior Peter Weirich shot rounds of 72 and 74 to sit tied for 21st at 4-over 146. Cristobal Salome rebounded from a first-round 77 with an even-par 71 to finish tied for 28th at 148. Henry Day carded a 151 (+9) to tie for 36th, and Manuel Corral rounded out the team scoring in 58th place at 163 (+21).

Daniel Ferguson leads individual standings at Nicholls LaTour Intercollegiate

Playing outside the primary team lineup as individual entrants, Jude LeBoeuf shot 151 (+9) to tie with Day, while Oliver White finished tied for 42nd at 153 (+11). Daniel Ferguson of East Texas A&M leads the individual tournament standings at 136 (-6) after rounds of 65 and 71.

The final round of the Nicholls LaTour Intercollegiate concludes on Tuesday in Mathews.
