UNI Men Golf Travels to Zach Johnson Invitational for Finale
The University of Northern Iowa men’s golf team travels to West Des Moines, Iowa, on October 19 and 20, for the Zach Johnson Invitational at Glen Oaks Country Club, marking the final tournament of the fall season. UNI athletics reported that the Panthers enter the tournament following a 12th-place finish.
Closing Out the Fall Slate at Glen Oaks Country Club
Glen Oaks Country Club hosts the Zach Johnson Invitational since 2017. The course plays as a par-71 spanning 6,961 yards. The two-day tournament opens with 36 holes on Monday using a shotgun start, followed by Tuesday’s final round.
The field features Creighton, tournament host Drake, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, Lindenwood, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, South Dakota, South Dakota State, UNI, Valparaiso, and Western Illinois, along with Iowa individuals. The University of Iowa also sends individual competitors to the West Des Moines event.
Bouncing Back From Arkansas
The Panthers travel to Des Moines following the A-State Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Arkansas. UNI finished in 12th place at that tournament with a combined team score of 907 (+43).
Tanner Dinnebier paced the Panthers in Jonesboro, tying for 26th place at 219 (+3). Dinnebier carded rounds of 71 and 70 to finish strong while collecting a team-best 12 birdies. Anthony Galvin tied for 42nd at 223 (+7) after firing an even-par 72 in his final round. Davis Tripp placed in a tie for 61st with a 229 (+13), Sam Wahman finished 91st at 244 (+28), and Drew Dawson tied for 92nd at 247 (+31). Dawson contributed an eagle during the second round, helping UNI finish the event with 33 total team birdies.
