New PS5 Action RPG loulan: The Cursed Sand Announced, Inspired by Ancient Discovery
Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed Loulan: The Cursed sand, a new action RPG developed by Chinese studio ChillyRoom, slated for release on PS5 and PC “soon.” The game, published under Sony’s China Hero Project, centers on a unique protagonist and a compelling narrative rooted in real-world history.
Set along the ancient Silk Road in China, Loulan: The Cursed Sand casts players as a skeletal warrior wielding the power of sand. The story, as detailed by ChillyRoom on the PlayStation Blog, is “inspired by the archaeological discovery of the xiaohe Princess,” following the Cursed Sand – a resurrected royal guard – on a tragic quest to locate the lost Princess of Loulan. The mummy of the Princess of Xiaohe was discovered in 2003 in a Chinese cemetery and is believed to be approximately 3,800 years old.
ChillyRoom’s development team boasts experiance from renowned studios including Sony Santa Monica, FromSoftware, and PlatinumGames, hinting at a gameplay experience drawing comparisons to titles like Prince of Persia and the PS3-era God of War.
The game is currently generating important excitement following the release of its announcement trailer.
