“How stupid can you be?”: Lotto Player Finds €15.3 Million Ticket After Six months
Wiesbaden,Germany – A lottery winner from Hesse,Germany, has come forward to claim a €15.3 million (approximately $16.5 million USD) jackpot from a 6aus49 drawing held in March, after discovering the winning ticket tucked away in a jacket six months later. Lotto hessen GmbH announced the man, a family from the Rhein-Main area, nearly missed out on the life-changing sum as the deadline to claim the prize approached.
For months, the lottery company launched a public campaign to locate the anonymous winner, utilizing posters in sales outlets and radio appeals. The winner himself initially dismissed the search, telling Lotto Hessen, “I even heard on the radio at the time and still thought, how stupid you can actually be to do that?” He added, “I would never have occurred to me that I could be the person you were looking for.”
The winner had until the end of 2028 to claim his prize; after that date, the funds would have reverted to special draws for other lottery participants. He located the winning ticket last week while sorting through a jacket stored in his wardrobe over the summer.
The newly minted multimillionaire plans to use the winnings to purchase a new living room couch and secure his children’s future.
