Bulldog Defies odds, returns Home After Month Lost in Australian Bushland

Hank vanished on May 15th from a property at Tonimbuk, venturing into the dense bushland alongside another dog, Benji. While Benji returned within two days, Hank remained missing, prompting a desperate search led by his owner, Pakenham police officer Paul Lester.
“For him to go missing, it was absolutely heartbreaking,” Lester shared, highlighting the deep bond he shares with the rescued bulldog. He believes Hank endured freezing nights and navigated steep, wild terrain during his month-long ordeal.
lester adopted Hank from a rescue shelter in 2019, describing the dog as a life-changing companion who helped him through a difficult period following workplace injuries. “Hank just sort of put me back on the right path and changed my life. He has been like my son ever since,” Lester emotionally stated.
Despite Hank’s penchant for chasing rabbits – and even attempting to “cuddle a kangaroo” – his disappearance sparked immediate concern. After 30 days and four hours, Hank finally reappeared, much to Lester’s relief.
