LiveWire, the electric motorcycle brand spun off from Harley-Davidson, warned that substantial doubt exists regarding its ability to continue as a going concern. Following the disclosure, the company’s stock price dropped more than 40 percent in Thursday morning trading, forcing management to withdraw all previously issued full-year financial guidance.
Revenue Gains Overshadowed by Cash Burn
The warning arrives despite positive top-line growth during the third quarter. LiveWire reported a 38 percent increase in revenue to 7,08 miljonus eiro, alongside a 21 percent rise in motorcycle unit sales. Yet the firm continues to burn through capital at an accelerated pace, posting a quarterly net loss of 16,67 miljoni eiro.
Financial reserves fell sharply over the course of the year. The company held 74,19 miljoniem eiro in reserves at the close of 2025, but that figure dropped to 35,75 miljoniem eiro by September 30, 2026.
| Metric | Q3 2026 / Period End | Previous Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Quarterly Revenue | 7,08 miljonus eiro | Up 38% year-over-year |
| Quarterly Net Loss | 16,67 miljoni eiro | Active cash depletion |
| Financial Reserves | 35,75 miljoniem eiro (as of Sept 30) | Down from 74,19 miljoniem eiro (YE 2025) |
Management previously projected operating losses for the full 2026 fiscal year to land between 62 un 71 miljoniem eiro. Those estimates are now rescinded.
Restructuring Committee Formed to Evaluate Sale
To address the deepening liquidity crisis, LiveWire established a restructuring committee. The panel is tasked with evaluating financing options, forming strategic partnerships, securing new investments, or executing a potential sale of the enterprise.
The financial stress hits at a crucial inflection point for the brand. LiveWire is currently preparing to roll out its lowest-priced electric models to date. The upcoming S4 Honcho series represents a strategic shift toward smaller, lighter, and more accessible motorcycles carrying a starting price of roughly 5,000 euros.
Upcoming Showcase at EICMA
The company plans to display its latest vehicle lineup at the upcoming EICMA exhibition in Milan. Market observers remain uncertain whether the lower-priced models can scale fast enough to protect the electric vehicle pioneer from insolvency.
