Former Beauty Queen and Trump Lawyer Lindsey Halligan to Lead Prosecution of James Comey
WASHINGTON D.C. – Lindsey Halligan, a former Miss Colorado USA contestant and attorney for Donald Trump, has been appointed to lead the prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey, according to reports. The appointment marks a significant turn for Halligan, whose background spans beauty pageants, insurance law, and defending Trump in high-profile legal battles.
Halligan, in her 20s, twice competed in Miss Colorado USA, finishing fourth in 2010 and reaching the semi-finals in 2009. “Sports and pageants taught me confidence, discipline, and how to handle pressure, on the court, on the field, on the stage, in the courtroom, and now in the White House,” Halligan told The Washington Post.
After law school, Halligan worked at the fort Lauderdale firm Cole, Scott & Kissane, specializing in insurance defense litigation. She represented insurance companies in disputes over residential and commercial properties, becoming a partner in 2018. Court records obtained by Fortune magazine indicate Halligan worked on only three federal cases prior to joining Trump’s legal team.
Halligan met Trump in 2021 at a West palm Beach golf course, reportedly arriving directly from court in a fitted suit. She joined his legal team the following year, and was present during the FBI’s August 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago. She later represented Trump in a dismissed defamation lawsuit against CNN and attended the US Open with him. Halligan also became a frequent commentator defending Trump on conservative media outlets like Fox news and Newsmax.
In March 2025, Halligan joined the White House as senior associate staff secretary. She was then tasked with leading an initiative to remove what she termed “improper ideology” from Smithsonian Institution museums, the National Zoo, and othre facilities. “I would say that improper ideology would be weaponizing history,” Halligan told The Washington Post in April. “We don’t need to overemphasize the negative to teach people that certain aspects of our nation’s history may have been bad.”
Halligan’s appointment as interim US attorney is limited to 120 days unless extended by federal judges or confirmed by the Senate. She is expected to present a grand jury with evidence against Comey.
