Lewandowski Declines Flick’s Offer to Rest in Barcelona Victory Over Celta Vigo
Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick as FC Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 4-2 on Sunday, but the Polish star revealed post-match that manager Hansi Flick had offered to substitute him due to a recent injury recovery.
Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a penalty, and added goals from close range and a 76th-minute header to secure the win. Lamine yamal also scored for Barcelona.
Despite Flick’s concern, Lewandowski told reporters, “Hansi Flick asked me if I wanted to come off the pitch in the second half and rest. I told him everything was fine. I just came back from an injury and physically I felt amazing today.”
The victory comes ahead of the international break, with Barcelona’s next La Liga match scheduled for November 22nd at 4:15 p.m. against Athletic Bilbao. Lewandowski’s return to form is a boost for the Catalan club as they prepare for the upcoming fixture.
