Lebaran 2026: Jakarta Toll Roads Experience Traffic Congestion
Severe traffic congestion is impacting major toll roads around Jakarta today, March 21, 2026, as increased traffic volume coincides with the Lebaran holiday period. The Jakarta-Tangerang toll road is experiencing significant delays, extending as far as Tomang in West Jakarta, according to reports from Jasa Marga, the toll road operator.
Specifically, Jasa Marga reported heavy traffic on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road between kilometer 15 and 14 in the direction of Tomang, as well as near kilometer 11 and between Meruya and Kedoya. The congestion is impacting travel between Jakarta and Tangerang, a key commuter route.
The Jakarta-Tangerang toll road, also known as Jalan Tol Janger, connects Jakarta and Tangerang City, with key access points including Tomang, Kebon Jeruk, Meruya, Kembangan Selatan, and Bitung. The 26.3-kilometer toll road, first opened in November 1984, is a vital part of the Trans-Java toll road network, extending to kilometer 98 at the port of Merak in Cilegon, Banten.
Beyond the Jakarta-Tangerang corridor, Jasa Marga also reported congestion on the Jakarta Inner City Toll Road, with delays occurring in both directions between Cawang and Tebet, and between Kuningan and Tebet. Traffic is also heavily impacted on the Jagorawi toll road, particularly between Cimanggis (kilometer 17) and Cibubur (kilometer 15), and further along between kilometers 13 and 12 in the direction of Cawang.
The Jakarta-Tangerang toll road utilizes an open toll payment system, meaning drivers pay per segment traveled. As of 2025, the toll rate for vehicles in Golongan I (the most common passenger vehicle category) from the Tomang entrance to Tangerang is Rp8,000. The rate to Cikupa is also Rp8,000 for Golongan I vehicles.
Jasa Marga has not yet issued a statement regarding the expected duration of the congestion or any mitigation measures being implemented.
