Meteorologists at Simepar provided critical context regarding the timing of the storm cell escalation. Lizandro Jacobsen, a meteorologist with Simepar, noted that the storm activity intensified notably between the afternoon and evening hours.

“Highlighting these storms that evolve during the day, but especially between the afternoon and evening, is when the rain showers become stronger accompanied by many lightning strikes and we cannot rule out, of course, the incidence of some localized hail and even gusts of wind,” Jacobsen stated.

The severe conditions put immense pressure on local drainage networks, particularly along the Iguacu River basin. With cumulative rainfall totals expected to eclipse historical averages in select zones, municipal authorities faced immediate threats to transportation corridors and structural integrity.

State civil defense teams maintained an active posture, urging residents in threatened zones to secure loose outdoor objects, disconnect sensitive electronic appliances, and shelter in secure structures.

Authorities reminded the public to utilize official emergency channels for immediate assistance. The Civil Defense remained reachable via telephone number 199, while the Fire Department responded to urgent calls through number 193.
