Xbox Game Pass Undergoes Major Price Restructure, Ultimate Tier Jumps 50%
Paris, France – October 1, 2025 – Microsoft today launched a revamped Xbox Game Pass subscription model featuring new tiers and significant price increases, most notably a 50% jump for the flagship Ultimate plan. The changes, effective instantly, consolidate offerings and end longstanding discounts for subscribers.
The new structure introduces three tiers: Essential at €8.99 per month (up from €6.99 for the previous Xbox Game Pass Core), Premium at €12.99 per month (matching the former Xbox Game Pass Standard price on console), and Ultimate, now costing €26.99 per month – a ample increase from its previous price of €17.99. Microsoft also raised the price of the PC Game Pass from €11.99 to €14.99 per month, though existing PC Game Pass subscribers will be allowed to continue their subscriptions at the new rate.
The overhaul eliminates the standalone PC Game Pass for new subscribers, integrating its benefits into the three new tiers. However, current PC Game Pass members can maintain their subscriptions, albeit at the increased price. Microsoft confirms the PC Game pass continues to offer access to new “Day One” releases.
A previously popular method of reducing the cost of Game Pass Ultimate – utilizing discounted Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game pass Core cards – is no longer viable, as microsoft has adjusted the conversion rate to 40%, rendering the practice less advantageous.
