Las Vegas Raiders weigh offensive line trade before deadline
The Las Vegas Raiders face an urgent roster decision ahead of the NFL trade deadline after dropping to a 3-3 record, with front-office executives weighing whether to acquire a dependable offensive guard to stabilize a struggling offensive line.
Offensive Line Struggles Shape Raiders Trade Deadline Strategy
Las Vegas spent the offseason revamping a roster that ranked as the league’s worst during the previous campaign. General manager John Spytek and head coach Klint Kubiak addressed major needs at quarterback and center by adding veteran Tyler Linderbaum. Yet, with six games completed in the 2026 regular season, persistent deficiencies along the offensive line continue to hinder the offense.
The unit is still gelling after several new pieces joined the franchise this past offseason. That lack of continuity has directly contributed to a three-game losing streak, during which the offense struggled to move the ball through the air and failed to establish a consistent ground game.
Offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko outlined the coaching staff’s granular approach to evaluating the group’s ongoing development.
“Can we get 1% better with our techniques, our hand placement, how we come off the ball, what’s our eyes look like? What’s our pad level? What’s our finish? All those things that we can quantify,” Janocko said. “Can we get 1% better than that? And that’s how we’re going to grow as not just an offensive line, but as an offense and as an organization.”
Front Office Considers Trading for Offensive Guard
While the front office could choose to stand pat at the deadline, trading away draft picks or personnel for a proven offensive guard remains the most efficient route to immediate improvement. The team’s current personnel has shown flashes of progress, but collective execution remains uneven.
“It’s just something we’re going to look to improve every week,” Kubiak said. “Whether we have a game that we rush for 150, 200 yards, we’re still going to go back and say, ‘Okay, how can we get better?’ So, I don’t know that we’re looking at it in terms of it’s close. We’re looking for incremental improvement every week in everything we do.”
Janocko reinforced that perspective, explaining how the staff breaks down success and failure across all four downs. Whether the Raiders execute a trade before the deadline or rely on internal development to mend their trenches, the upcoming weeks will determine if the revamped roster can translate offseason ambitions into sustainable wins.
