LAFOURCHE⁣ PARISH, LA – Newly released video footage appears to contradict initial reports regarding the involvement of former Louisiana State University ⁣wide receiver Kyren Lacy in a December car crash that resulted in⁤ the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Lacy,‍ who died by suicide in April at age 24 while facing charges related to the ‌incident,‍ was reportedly over 70 yards away from the point ⁤of impact, according to his attorney.

Attorney Matt Ory shared security camera footage from⁣ the crash⁤ inquiry conducted by the Lafourche ‌Parish District Attorney’s office. Ory stated in an interview with HTV 10 ‌News, “That is not how this story was ever ‌painted. Never.” The footage shows Lacy’s vehicle was ⁢72.6‍ yards from the collision when it⁢ occurred.

Louisiana State Police initially reported that Hall, a passenger in a Kia Sorento, was killed when the vehicle was struck after another car swerved to avoid ‍Lacy’s Dodge Charger. Police⁤ charged Lacy in⁢ January with negligent ⁤homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless‍ operation of a ‌vehicle.the police report stated, “Traveling behind ‍the ⁢pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left ‍to avoid ⁣the oncoming ⁣Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it‌ crossed the ⁢centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”

ory clarified that while Lacy‍ did pass four⁢ vehicles further‌ up the road, he was‌ 92.3 yards behind Hall’s vehicle ⁣and 72.6 yards behind the vehicles involved at⁣ the time of‍ impact. “Key word, behind the vehicles,” Ory⁤ emphasized.

Lacy was‌ scheduled to⁢ appear before a grand jury the day he died. Following his ‍death, former teammates and supporters have used the hashtag #LLK2 – ⁢”Long Live Kyren”⁣ and his jersey‌ number -‍ on social media. ‌LSU Defensive end Savion Jones posted on X,‌ “Thay slander your name, your character, and painted you as the ‍bad guy. but ‌we your family, ‌teammates, and friends know ‍the real you⁤ LLK2.”
