The Kremlin today rejected the idea of an exchange of occupied territories between Kiev and Moscow in the context of peace negotiations, a possibility that had been put by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.
“It’s impossible. Russia has never discussed and will never discuss an exchange that involves its territory. “ Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, assuring that Ukrainian forces holding a part of Kursk’s Russian District ‘Will be eliminated’ or ‘will be expelled’.
It is recalled that yesterday Zelenski told the British newspaper Guardian that he is planning to propose to Russia a direct exchange of territories that will help end the war.
Russia controls just less than 20% of Ukraine, more than 112,000 square kilometers, while Ukraine controls about 450 square kilometers of the Russian region of Kursk.
Earlier, Russian Security Council Vice President Dmitry Medvedev had rejected the proposal, saying they were “nonsense”.

Medvedev, who served as president of Russia from 2008 to 2012, noted that Russia has shown that it can achieve peace through power.
The prospects for peace negotiations aimed at ending the war launched by Russia almost three years ago in Ukraine has increased after US President Donald Trump’s statements that it came into contact with Kiev and Putin. Zelenski also said yesterday, Tuesday, that Ukraine will soon have talks with US officials.
Zelenski: “Russia is not preparing for peace”
Moscow strikes with rockets and unmanned air vehicles in Kiev show that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is not preparing for peace,” said Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelenski.
“Putin is not preparing for peace. He continues to kill Ukrainians and destroy cities. Only strong measures and pressure on Russia can put an end to this terror. What we need now is the unity and support of all our partners in this struggle for a fair end to war, ”Zelenski said in a post in the Telegram messages.
Russian rocket launches in the Ukrainian capital before dawn claimed the lives of at least one civilian and injured four others, including a 9 -year -old child, causing fires in the city of three million inhabitants, according to Ukrainian officials.
A series of powerful explosions shocked Kiev around 04:30 am, as officials noted that Ukrainian forces anti -aircraft systems had been activated to prevent attacks.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces announced today that they had overthrew six of the seven ballistic missiles and 71 drones that the Russian forces were launched over the night against Ukrainian territory.
The Ukrainian army clarified that 40 of the 123 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Moscow forces did not cause damage due to the use of electronic counterparts by Ukrainian forces.
