Man Faces Court in Kalgoorlie Murder Case following Arboretum Death
KALGOORLIE, WA – A 29-year-old man from Kalgoorlie is scheduled to appear in court today, charged with the murder of a 42-year-old man in the city’s West Lamington suburb. Western Australia Police’s Homicide Squad laid the charges two days after the incident, which has shaken the Goldfields community.
Police allege the accused deliberately struck the victim with a vehicle at approximately 1:35 am on Sunday. the victim, whose identity is currently being withheld, was discovered unconscious on Hawkins Street, near the popular Kalgoorlie Arboretum dog park. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The delay in alerting authorities is a key aspect of the investigation. While the incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning,emergency services weren’t called to Hawkins Street until approximately 5:50 am – over four hours later.
