Justin Timberlake to Release Apple TV Docuseries Featuring Janet Jackson
Justin Timberlake is preparing to release a four-part tell-all docuseries on Apple TV in December that features Janet Jackson as a guest, Variety reported on Monday, Nov. 2. The project arrives during a low-profile period for the pop star and is expected to revisit the 2004 Super Bowl controversy that involved Timberlake exposing Jackson’s breast on live television.
Fisher Stevens Directs Apple TV Series About Timberlake
Fisher Stevens is directing the four-part series, according to Variety. Representatives for Timberlake, Jackson, and Apple did not respond to multiple requests for comment or had no comment at the time of publication. Beyond Jackson’s participation and the anticipated discussion of the incident that coined the term “wardrobe malfunction,” further details about the project remain unannounced.
One source told Variety that Timberlake also discusses comments made by former girlfriend Britney Spears in the upcoming project. Timberlake has a prior working relationship with Apple TV dating back to 2021, when he starred in the Apple Original film Palmer.
Reflections and Recent Health Challenges
The docuseries emerges during a reflective chapter for the former *NSYNC member. In 2021, Timberlake issued a public apology to Jackson and Spears, acknowledging that he benefited from a system condoning misogyny and racism. His public profile shifted further following a June 2024 arrest for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York, for which he later pleaded guilty to a lesser impaired-driving charge and received a sentence of 25 hours of community service.
Timberlake’s recent years also involved touring commitments that were complicated by health struggles. Following the conclusion of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which supported his March 2024 album Everything I Thought It Was, the singer revealed in July 2025 that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. He stated that the condition caused relentless mental and physical fatigue as well as nerve pain during his performances.

Aside from a guest appearance during Jay-Z’s concert in Paris and a collaboration with Quavo on the early October song “House Music,” Timberlake has remained largely off the radar since his global tour wrapped in July 2025.
