Julian Lynch Leaves Real Estate: Band Member’s Departure Explained

Real estate guitarist Julian Lynch is leaving the band after nearly a decade, ⁢he announced​ via ​Instagram ‍on ​Thursday. Lynch will ⁣play his final shows with ⁤the​ group during a brief tour supporting Tennis next week before pursuing other projects.

“after‌ a‌ decade creating, performing, ⁤and traveling with my friends in the band,” Lynch wrote, “I’ve ‌decided to move ⁣onto​ other things.” He will not⁣ participate in Real Estate‘s upcoming “11 year and seven month anniversary tour” celebrating their 2014 album Atlas.

Lynch continued: “Next week’s brief leg of touring with Tennis will hold special ‍meaning ​for me,as these will be‍ my final⁣ shows with the ‌band before I move onto other things.‍ Thank you to my bandmates for ⁢sharing these experiences‌ with ‌me. Thanks also to Real Estate’s welcoming fans‍ and ⁤to all of the kind⁣ and talented people I’ve been‌ able ⁢to meet or work with ⁢along the way.Looking⁤ forward to seeing ​some of you at the shows next week :)”

Lynch joined Real estate in 2016, replacing founding ‌guitarist Matt ⁤Mondanile.Mondanile was fired⁢ following‌ allegations of sexual misconduct. Real Estate’s ​statement at‍ the time did not detail the allegations,​ but multiple women later came forward with accusations. As‌ joining, Lynch has‌ contributed to the band’s albums In mind (2017), The Main thing (2019), and Daniel (2020).He​ also ​released the solo album⁤ Rat’s ⁣Spit in 2019.

Earlier in 2024, Real Estate ‍released a rarities ​compilation, The wee Small Hours. The band, originally⁣ formed in Ridgewood, New Jersey, is currently based​ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and consists ‍of⁢ Martin Crane (drums), Alex Bleeker (bass), Matt Kallman ⁣(keyboards), and​ Lynch.
