Judith Fiala Appointed Managing Director at Wienit
Judith fiala, 41, has been appointed as the second managing director of Wienit, the IT competence center for the Vienna Stadtwerke Group. She will oversee the company’s commercial operations, including financial management, controlling, legal affairs, and purchasing. Gerald Stöckl will continue to lead Wienit’s technical and operational divisions.
Monika Unterholzner, Deputy General Director of the Wiener Stadtwerke, highlighted Fiala’s experiance, stating, “With Judith Fiala, Wienit is gaining an experienced top manager who has demonstrated success in developing and leading companies within challenging industries. Her background in business and law makes her an ideal complement to Gerald Stöckl and his continued focus on technical and operational leadership.”
Fiala most recently served as managing director of Vienna Local Railways Cargo GmbH (WLC), an international railway traffic company, a role she held since 2023. During her tenure at WLC,she focused on improving overall performance,increasing production quality and efficiency,restoring profitability,and advancing digitization initiatives. She is currently on maternity leave, scheduled to end in June 2025, and oversaw the company’s current sales process prior to her leave.
Prior to WLC, Fiala spent several years with the Rail Cargo Group (ÖBB), culminating in her position as Head of Business Unit. She was also a member of the Rail Cargo group Management Board and a Reporter for both Rail Cargo Austria AG and Rail Cargo Logistics GmbH, beginning in 2018.Fiala’s career began in the European parliament, where she served as an office manager for Jörg Leichtfried from 2009 to 2013. She then held positions within the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, including Cabinet Chief, and various management roles within the ÖBB group, spanning areas like law, purchasing, and business operations.
Fiala holds degrees in law and economics from the University of Innsbruck. She also completed executive management training at the St. Gallen Business School, specializing in Finance, Strategy, and Leadership, and gained international experience through studies in Strasbourg. A native of Tyrol, she currently resides in Vienna with her family.
Wienit is a key component of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group, providing central IT and business support to the organization’s various divisions. The company employs approximately 800 individuals who deliver a range of services, including IT infrastructure management, personnel processes, media planning, and printing services.
The Wiener Stadtwerke Group itself is Vienna’s primary infrastructure service provider, employing around 18,000 people and encompassing companies such as Vienna Energie, wiener Netze, Wiener Linien, Wiener Lokalbahnen, Wipark, Immoh!, Wienit, and also services related to burial and Vienna’s cemeteries.
