Jordan Sets New Personal Best, Leads Lynchburg to Second Place at Regionals

Jordan ​DiRisio Soars too Individual Title at NCAA South Regional

LYNCHBURG, VA -‍ Lynchburg ‍cross-country runner Jordan DiRisio claimed the individual title​ at‍ the NCAA​ South Regional Championships on Saturday, November⁤ 16, finishing the 8k race in 25:12.4. Aidan Riggle secured⁣ 16th ⁣place with a time of 25:12.4, while‍ Jack Weddle finished ​20th in 25:27.8 to round out the scoring for⁤ the men’s team.

The Hornets’ performance at​ the regional ‍championships carries significant​ weight as the NCAA Championships selections are set to‌ be unveiled on Sunday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m. the men’s team ⁤tallied 57 points, finishing second to Washington & Lee’s 39 points ​among 24 competing ‌teams. On the women’s ​side, Mya Baker led Lynchburg ‌with a personal-best 23:16.5, earning all-region honors and ‍finishing⁣ 32nd. Hannah Edwards followed closely behind in 33rd with a season-best 23:20.1.

Delaney Saulsbury ⁣placed 36th with a time of 23:24.8, and‍ newcomer Winter Tietjen registered a personal best‍ of 23:31.4. DiRisio⁣ became Lynchburg’s fifth finisher with a ‍23:41.1 performance for 46th. The women’s team tallied ⁣182 points ⁢to earn fifth ‌place, exceeding their projected finish ⁤despite racing ⁢without⁢ sophomore Adelynn carpenter.
