Road Trip Beckons After Sepsis Battle for Jonna Lundell
Following a harrowing hospital stay, Jonna Lundell is embracing life anew. She and her family are embarking on a European caravan adventure, marking a significant step in her recovery from a serious health scare, and a renewed appreciation for the present.
Health Update and Travel Plans
After a three-week hospital stay, Jonna Lundell is now home, recuperating from a battle with sepsis. She still takes strong antibiotics and painkillers, and recently underwent further tests. The body is healthy, but the abscess in her back still contains bacteria, which is a concern.
Despite the health challenges, the family has already begun their planned caravan holiday across Europe, relishing the opportunity to experience life and make memories together.

“I have not realized that I have been close to death but in a way I have probably taken it because I feel that I just want to live.”
—Jonna Lundell
According to the CDC, sepsis affects nearly 2 million people in the United States annually, and is a leading cause of hospital deaths (CDC 2024).
Reflections on Recovery
Jonna Lundell shared insights into the traumatic period in the hospital with sepsis. She explained in her podcast, “Jocke and Jonna – the truth must come up,” that she remembers very little from this critical time.
While recovering, Jonna Lundell felt it was essential to embrace everyday activities, such as playing video games and spending time with her family. Despite feeling tired, she recognizes the importance of cherishing each moment.
The family anticipates visiting Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and hopes to reach the French Riviera.
