Jon Stewart Slams CBS Over Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Cancellation

The proposed merger between Paramount and skydance Media, initiated last year, is currently awaiting approval from the Trump management’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This development follows a recent $16 million settlement awarded to Donald Trump in a lawsuit he filed against CBS concerning the editing of a “60 minutes” interview featuring Kamala Harris. Comedian Stephen Colbert characterized this settlement as a “big fat bribe.”

Jon Stewart, speaking on his show, suggested that the reasons behind the potential conclusion of his program are not rooted in specific communications between Donald Trump and CBS executives or in the company’s financial records. Instead, Stewart posited that the answer lies in the pervasive “fear and pre-compliance” affecting American institutions. He argued that these institutions have opted not to challenge what he described as the “vengeful and vindictive actions of our pubic hair doodling Commander in Chief,” urging against succumbing to such pressures.

Stewart expressed his personal stance, stating, “I’m not giving in, I’m not going anywhere.” He also alluded to the possibility of paramount ceasing production of “The Daily Show.” Accompanied by a gospel choir, Stewart reiterated a sentiment previously voiced by Stephen Colbert, singing, “If you’re afraid and you protect your bottom line … I’ve got but one thing to say ‘go fuck yourself.'”
