A private truck traveling from Santiago de Cuba experienced a serious accident on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, on the Santa rita elevations in the Granma municipality of Jiguaní, resulting in 22 injuries.
Details of the Incident
Initial reports from Cubadebate indicate the truck lost control adn fell from the Santa Rita elevated bridge. Available images confirm the vehicle remained upright and did not overturn.
Radio Jiguaní reported that emergency services responded to the scene around 11:00 AM local time. twenty-two injured passengers received immediate treatment at the Edor de los Reyes polyclinic in jiguaní.Seven individuals with more severe injuries were subsequently transferred to the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Provincial Hospital in Bayamo.
Passengers and Travel Purpose
Authorities confirmed that no minors or pregnant women were among the passengers. The truck was chartered by a group of self-employed workers (TCP) traveling from Santiago de Cuba to Niquero, a coastal municipality, to participate in local festivities.

Local authorities, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and public health specialists, swiftly responded to the accident site to provide assistance and manage the situation.
