Jerry Seinfeld Mocks Anti-Israel Protesters During Chicago Comedy Show
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld mocked anti-Israel protesters and danced on stage as security removed them from the Chicago Theatre during a performance last Friday, turning viral heckles into a direct confrontation over the ongoing Middle East conflict, foxnews.com reported.
Chicago Protesters Interrupted the Performance
Activists from the Anti-War Committee Chicago and the Chicago branch of the US Palestinian Community Network disrupted the show by shouting accusations that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and alleging that American taxpayer dollars fund the deaths of civilians. A woman in the crowd yelled that twenty-two thousand Palestinian children have been killed with taxpayer money while comedy is being performed, according to video footage of the incident.
Seinfeld responded by dancing on stage and offering sarcastic remarks, stating, “I’m racist. It’s a genocide, I’m into it,” and joking that he would find out how much the protesters paid for their tickets and send the money directly to Israel. As security escorted demonstrators out, an audience member shouted to rough her up, 7news.com.au reported. The Anti-War Committee Chicago and the US Palestinian Community Network took credit for the disruption on Instagram, stating that those who defend Israel’s genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza and throughout Palestine will be met with protest and are not welcome on Chicago’s stages without opposition.
Protesters Target Comedian over His Defense of Israel
The Chicago confrontation is the latest in a series of demonstrations targeting the 72-year-old comedian over his staunch defense of Israel following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage, newsweek.com reported. Comedian and media analyst Tim Young told foxnews.com that protesters are paying top dollar for tickets to hijack comedy shows for viral attention, noting that intimate environments where audiences are quiet provide a rare direct interaction with celebrities and the internet.
Seinfeld previously faced similar disruptions during his 2024 tour in Australia, where hecklers at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena called him a hack and a fraud. During that performance, Seinfeld told a heckler that they had gone 20,000 miles from the problem just to disrupt a comedian. In May 2024, dozens of students walked out of his commencement speech at Duke University, and Seinfeld later returned in September 2025 to introduce freed Israeli hostage Omer Shem Tov, where he criticized the phrase “Free Palestine” by comparing the movement unfavorably to the Ku Klux Klan in terms of direct honesty.

European Acts Withdraw from Lisbon Festival Headline Show
Beyond domestic tour stops, the controversy has affected international appearances. Last month, several European acts withdrew from the inaugural MEO Commedia a La Carte Fest in Lisbon, Portugal, where Seinfeld is scheduled to headline later this year. One performer said someone involved in the festival defended ideas they considered indefensible. Tim Young told foxnews.com that these targeted protests against the billionaire comedian are driven by a desire for control and influence over prominent figures who maintain public support for Israel.
