Stand Up To Cancer Announces Star-Studded Telecast, Airing September 5th
Featuring Dolly Parton, Sheryl Crow, and performances by Noah Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, and more, the event aims to raise critical funds for cancer research.
A one-hour special, “Stand Up To Cancer,” will air on September 5th across over 30 media platforms in the United States, including ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, with networks donating airtime to support the cause. The telecast will also be available on various digital and streaming services.
The event, held at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Tennessee, will feature performances by Noah Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, Marcus King, Brothers Osborne, and Jon Pardi. Sheryl crow will host the evening,and Stand Up To Cancer co-founder Katie Couric will deliver remarks. Dolly Parton previously participated in a promotional campaign to increase awareness of the telecast.
Pre-taped segments will include appearances from Kevin Bacon, Jamie foxx, Tim McGraw, Zoe Saldaña, Keith Urban, and Reese Witherspoon. The special will also showcase stories from cancer survivors and highlight recent advancements in early cancer detection and treatment. Stand Up To Cancer has allocated $633 million to research as its inception in 2008.
The concert event is co-produced by stand Up To Cancer and Done + Dusted. Executive producers include David Jammy and Liz Kelly of Done + Dusted, Pamela Oas Williams and Lisa paulsen of Stand Up To Cancer, Rod Essig of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Kevin Yorn of Yorn Levine / broadlight Capital, and Rick Yorn of LBI Entertainment / BroadLight Capital. James Merryman will direct the show, and Derek Wells, a two-time Academy of Country Music guitar player of the year, will serve as musical director.
Prior to the telecast, Stand Up To Cancer launched the #StandUpToCancer campaign, running thru August 31st. This initiative encourages creators on platforms like twitch,TikTok,Facebook,and YouTube to host fundraising streams to support cancer research. Stand up To Cancer was established in 2008 by the Entertainment industry Foundation (EIF) and several leading cancer research organizations. The association focuses on accelerating the pace of cancer research by funding innovative projects and fostering collaboration among scientists.
