Langwedel – After the months-long break, things are getting serious for the jazz kids “Lollipops” from MTV Langwedel. The anticipation grows before one of the greatest challenges in her dance history, as the preparations for the World Cup are the biggest event in her young history.

For six years the children have been trained in ballet and jazz by trainer Birgit Sasse-Maruhn. Now the time has finally come – and the countdown is on: On October 24th and 25th, the focus will be on the World Cup qualification tournament Jazz and the Deutschland Cup children in the sports hall of the Olympic base in Freiburg / Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg. The organizer is the 1st Jazzdance Club in the Dance Center Freiburg, which ensures that the protection and hygiene regulations are implemented particularly strictly. Provided the tournament can take place, the young women from Langwedel want to start in the children’s jazz category. “In the months when we weren’t allowed to see each other, we just did our exercises at home in the children’s room. Our trainer had sent us a video with exercises via WhatsApp, ”reports eight-year-old Lilou and ten-year-old Anouk adds:“ After five months without proper training, we were able to quickly find our way back to the old choreography. And our beautiful glitter costumes even suit us! “

“This year we are dancing as a group in the jazz category for the first time. There are hardly any slow passages. The post gets off the ground from the first second, ”says Birgit Sasse-Maruhn. “We all practice the difficulties five days a week until we leave. And I still practice at home. We can hardly wait, ”says ten-year-old Lieke happily. Birgit Sasse-Maruhn had already led dancers to the world championship twice. With one from MTV Langwedel she had particularly great success in jazz. Kira Vesshoff became German vice-champion in jazz as a soloist in 2018 and successfully participated in the World Cup in Poland.

Now we have to keep our fingers crossed that the tournament does not have to be canceled. Lynn, eight years old: “I think it’s stupid that at least the parents, grandmas, grandpas and friends aren’t allowed to watch the dress rehearsal, but we’re now recording it on video for everyone.”
