Netflix’s ‘the Crystal Cuckoo’ Unveils a 20-Year-Old Mystery and a Disappearing Baby
A chilling new mystery has arrived on Netflix with the release of “The Crystal Cuckoo,” a six-episode series from the creators of “The Snow Girl.” The series follows Clara, who arrives in a seemingly tranquil town only to become entangled in an unsolved tragedy and the sudden disappearance of a baby from a public park on the very day of her arrival.
Based on Javier Castillo’s novel, “The Crystal Cuckoo” delves into a decades-old mystery spanning 20 years, while simultaneously exploring Clara’s unsettling experience of inheriting memories and feelings not her own. This raises a central question: can a heart retain echoes of a previous owner’s soul? Filming concluded in March, utilizing locations in the community of Madrid and Extremadura, including the Valle del ambroz region of Cáceres. The series promises “many twists, surprises, mysteries,” according to Castillo, and “plays a lot with emotions.”
