Israel Faces Isolation and Economic Strain if Arab and Muslim Nations Sever Ties

Jakarta, Indonesia – calls to review diplomatic and economic relations with Israel are mounting following recent Israeli actions, sparking concerns about the potential repercussions for the nation. Experts warn that a widespread severing of ties with Arab and Muslim countries could lead to significant isolation and economic hardship for Israel.

According to Teuku Rezasyah, an international relations expert from Padjadjaran University (Unpad), the initial impact would be a shrinking sphere of influence for Israel. “Israel will be washing in its own closest area, so that this exclusion can slowly extend to various parts of the earth,” Rezasyah explained to reporters.

This isolation could escalate, leading to Israel being perceived as a dangerous nation and a threat to global peace, prompting further countries to distance themselves.

Tourism and Economic Impacts

The consequences wouldn’t be limited to geopolitics. Rezasyah predicts a potential “collapse of the Israeli tourism industry,” leaving Israeli citizens feeling vulnerable and threatened while traveling abroad.Furthermore, the breakdown of diplomatic relations would likely disrupt trade, forcing Israel to navigate more complex and expensive supply chains, ultimately driving up the cost of goods for Israeli consumers.

“The price of expensive goods triggers demonstrations,” Rezasyah noted, adding that numerous bilateral agreements would likely be unilaterally cancelled by Israel’s partners.

reputational Damage and citizen Status

Beyond the immediate economic concerns, Israel faces a significant challenge in restoring its international reputation, especially regarding human rights. Rezasyah believes this will require “extraordinary energy.” He also anticipates increased scrutiny and pressure on countries currently offering citizenship or residency to Israeli nationals.

Emergency Meetings and Growing Pressure

The current wave of concern stems from an emergency meeting held by the Arab League and the Islamic Cooperation Institution (OIC) in Doha on Monday, where leaders called for a review of relations with Israel. The potential for widespread diplomatic and economic repercussions is now a very real possibility, leaving Israel facing a period of significant uncertainty and potential hardship.
