Iran Warns Europe Against Joining Conflict with Israel & US | Missile Threat

Tehran issued a stark warning to European nations on Tuesday, declaring that any participation in military action alongside Israel and the United States against Iran would be considered an act of war. The statement, delivered by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, came in response to signals from Germany, the United Kingdom, and France that they may consider “defensive measures” – potentially including strikes against Iranian missile launch capabilities – in the escalating regional conflict.

The warning underscores a rapidly expanding conflict that began on Saturday with a joint U.S.-Israeli strike that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports from The Times of Israel. The operation, intended to destabilize the Iranian regime, has triggered retaliatory attacks from Iran and its proxies across the Middle East, targeting Israel, Arab states, and U.S. Military assets.

The immediate impetus for the European nations’ consideration of direct military involvement appears to stem from a barrage of Iranian-backed attacks. According to NBC Chicago, Iran and its affiliated militias have launched attacks on multiple fronts, escalating the conflict beyond the initial U.S.-Israeli strikes. These attacks have included drone strikes targeting the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and missile launches toward Israel.

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the military campaign against Iran is expected to last “four to five weeks,” but also stated he is prepared “to travel far longer than that,” as reported by the Associated Press. Secretary of State Marco Rubio added that “the hardest hits are yet to come,” suggesting a significant escalation in the intensity of the strikes. The conflict has already resulted in at least 555 confirmed deaths within Iran, with attacks reported in 131 cities, including strikes that took Iranian state television off the air, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, the U.S. Military reported that Kuwaiti forces “mistakenly shot down” three American fighter aircraft during a combat mission, though all six pilots ejected safely. This incident highlights the heightened tensions and risk of miscalculation in the region. Israel has also intensified its operations, carrying out “targeted attacks” on senior members of Hezbollah in Lebanon, resulting in at least 31 deaths and 149 injuries, according to NBC Chicago.

The Iranian warning to European nations reflects a growing concern that the conflict could broaden significantly. Baqaei stated that any action against Iran would be viewed as “meddling with the aggressors” and would be considered a “declaration of war.” The statement leaves unanswered whether Iran would differentiate between defensive and offensive actions by European forces, and what specific retaliatory measures it might take.

The United Nations nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, reported damage to entrance buildings at Iran’s Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant, though it anticipates no radiological consequences, according to The Independent. This development raises concerns about the potential for further disruption to Iran’s nuclear program and the possibility of escalation.
