Apple’s New iPhone Air Prioritizes Lightness and Battery Life
MILAN – Apple’s new iPhone Air, tested alongside teh iPhone 17 Pro, distinguishes itself with a remarkably light design-just 165 grams and 5.6mm thick-a important departure from previous models. Engineers focused on efficiency, concentrating the 48MP single camera and components to maximize battery space, and eliminating the physical SIM card slot in favor of eSIM technology, a trend extending to the entire iPhone 17 range in some countries like the United States.
The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch screen, compared to the 6.3-inch screen on the iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9-inch screen on the 17 Pro Max. Apple engineers at the Monaco Design Center emphasized the focus on efficiency in the new chips powering the device. Both the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro utilize Ceramic Shield for front and rear coating, offering increased scratch and drop resistance, while the Air boasts a titanium structure demonstrated to withstand significant pressure without permanent bending.
