iPhone Air Passes Bend Tests, Addressing Durability Concerns
Cupertino, CA – September 19, 2025 – Concerns about the durability of Apple’s newly released iPhone Air, specifically regarding potential bending due to its ultra-slim profile, appear to be unfounded, according to recent testing. A viral TikTok video and subsequent machine tests demonstrate the device’s surprising resilience.
Users initially voiced worries about a repeat of the “Bendgate” issue that plagued the iPhone 6. However, a clip posted by TikTok user @marcuscupello shows a person attempting to bend the iPhone Air by applying force at the edge of a table and even slamming the phone’s bottom end – all without causing damage.
Further bolstering confidence in the Air’s build quality, Chinese YouTuber Mediastorm conducted a machine-bend test comparing the iPhone Air to the iPhone 6. The machine applied 60.1 Kgf of pressure to the center of the iPhone Air, and it remained intact. In contrast, the iPhone 6 visibly deformed under a similar force of 60.2kgf.
Apple utilized a titanium frame – the same material found in the iPhone 16 Pro models – and Ceramic Shield 2 protection for both the front and back of the iPhone Air. Apple’s own durability tests indicate the device can withstand 58kg of pressure at its center. The iPhone Air also boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The iPhone Air is available in India starting at Rs 1,19,900 for the 256GB model, with the 512GB version priced at Rs 1,39,900 and the 1TB variant at Rs 1,59,900.
