iPhone 17e: Apple’s New Affordable Model Revealed – Price & Specs

Apple today introduced the iPhone 17e, a new addition to its iPhone 17 lineup, priced at $599. The device, announced on Monday, March 2, 2026, offers a more affordable option with several key upgrades over its predecessor, the iPhone 16e.

The iPhone 17e features the A19 chip, the same processor found in the higher-end iPhone 17 models, promising exceptional performance. Even as the standard iPhone 17 boasts a six-core GPU, the 17e is equipped with a four-core GPU. Apple states the A19 chip delivers up to two times faster performance compared to the iPhone 11. A new 16-core Neural Engine is optimized for large generative models, according to Apple.

A significant upgrade is the inclusion of MagSafe connectivity, a feature absent in the iPhone 16e. This allows for snap-on magnetic accessories and supports wireless charging up to 15W with a 20W adapter or higher, a substantial improvement over the 7.5W wireless charging offered on the previous model. Wired charging is also faster, achieving up to 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

The iPhone 17e also incorporates Apple’s latest-generation C1X cellular modem, offering up to two times faster cellular speeds compared to the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e. The device’s display features Ceramic Shield 2, providing three times better scratch resistance and reduced glare.

The camera system includes a 48MP Fusion camera with an optical-quality 2x Telephoto capability, enabling users to capture detailed photos and 4K 60fps Dolby Vision video. An improved Portrait mode image pipeline automatically detects objects, enhancing portrait photography.

The base model of the iPhone 17e will ship with 256GB of storage – double the storage of the entry-level iPhone 16e at the same starting price, and four times the storage of the iPhone 12. A 512GB storage option is also available for $799.

Available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, the iPhone 17e will be available for pre-order beginning Wednesday, March 4, with general availability starting Wednesday, March 11, in over 70 countries. The device will run iOS 26 and support Apple Intelligence features.
