Apple Forecasts Record iPhone Revenue as Sales Surge in 2025
CUPERTINO, CA – Apple is poised for a banner year in iPhone sales, with projections indicating revenue will exceed $261 billion in 2025 – a 7.2% year-over-year increase. This strong performance marks a significant turnaround from initial forecasts of a 1% decline, fueled by robust demand for the iPhone 17 and Pro models. The positive trend is also being observed in previously stagnant mature markets like the United States and Western Europe.
Industry analysis from IDC reveals the unexpected rebound,initially anticipating a 1% decline for 2025,now projects a 3% increase. This surge in sales comes as Apple aims for a record-breaking fourth quarter, with overall growth targeted between 10 and 12%, as announced by CEO Tim cook in October. The success is largely attributed to consumer preference for the higher-end iPhone models.
While the standard iPhone 17 and Pro versions are driving sales, the iPhone Air has not met expectations, leading Apple to reduce its production. This demonstrates a clear consumer appetite for the more advanced features offered in the premium iPhone tiers.
Looking ahead, apple plans to adjust its release schedule in 2026, delaying the launch of the standard iPhone 18 until spring 2027. IDC predicts this shift, coupled with a projected global shortage of flash memory, will result in a 4.2% drop in iPhone sales for 2026 and a 0.9% decline in overall global smartphone sales. Despite this anticipated short-term dip,Apple’s strong 2025 performance solidifies its position as a market leader and sets the stage for future innovation.
