Buckeyes Compete at Historic Inverness Club This Week
TOLEDO, Ohio - the Ohio State women’s golf team travels to Toledo this week to compete in the inverness Collegiate at the renowned Inverness Club, marking the second tournament of the 2024-25 season. Competition begins Monday at one of the nation’s most prestigious golf venues.
The Buckeyes will field a team comprised of Sophie eppelstun,Mandy Song,and Kary Hollenbaugh,while Marina Joyce-Moreno will participate as an individual. This event offers an early-season test against a competitive field and provides valuable experience at a course with a rich championship history, including hosting four U.S. Opens and the 2021 Solheim Cup. Inverness Club is also slated to host the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2029 U.S. Amateur.
Ohio State is coming off a strong showing at the Folds of Honor Collegiate,where senior Kary Hollenbaugh secured a top-10 finish – the 15th of her career – after carding a final-round 71 (-1) and finishing at 2-over par. Hollenbaugh’s consistent performance anchors a buckeyes squad recognized for its overall talent.
Adding to the team’s accolades, Hollenbaugh, Nellie Ong, and Joyce-Moreno have all been named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List, signaling their potential to be key contributors throughout the season. Following the Inverness Collegiate, Nellie Ong will represent England at the Espirito Santo Trophy, part of the World Amateur Team Championships, October 1-4, 2025, in Singapore.
