Lebanese Students Honored for Film Promoting Peace adn Cultural Exchange
A film created by Italian language students in Sarba, South Lebanon, has received international recognition, winning the “Article 9 of the Constitution” prize at the 14th International Tour Film Festival. The experimental film, titled “Terra,” was awarded in october and celebrated at a special ceremony held at the Lebanese Embassy in Rome.
The event, filled with emotion and a spirit of friendship, was attended by the Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic to Italy, Carla Jazzar, who expressed hope for continued collaboration to strengthen cultural ties between Lebanon and Italy.A video link connected the ceremony to Ali Samad, Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, allowing him to share in the students’ and their families’ pride. Mona Rizk, director of the Cultural House of Sarba and a municipal councilor, emphasized the importance of promoting the Italian language globally and the vital role of teacher involvement in such initiatives.
Leaders from the International Tour Film Festival (ITFF), including President Piero Pacchiarotti, and representatives from Apidge Lazio (Ezio Sina and Gaetano D’Angelo) and Italia Nostra (Sara Parca) highlighted the unifying power of culture.
The award recognizes not only the students’ creative talent but also the valuable learning and cultural exchange fostered by the project. Through “Terra,” the young filmmakers explored themes of peace and solidarity, reflecting the core principles of Article Nine of the Italian Constitution.
